Laguindingan International Airport is the brand new airport serving the cities Cagayan de Oro and Iligan and the provinces Misamis Oriental and Lanao del Norte. The airport opened in 2013 at a cost of almost 8 billion peso (US$ 160 million) and is located 46 km from Cagayan de Oro and 57 km from Iligan.
The airport became the first international designated airport in the region although so far there are no international flights to Laguidingan although direct flights to Seoul are planned for considering the large South Korean presence in the area.
