Legazpi International Airport information
The Legazpi International Airport is the main airport in the Bicol Region that serves the city of Legazpi in Albay Province. Legazpi is a fairly small airport with around a half a million passengers a year.
The airport is only about 12 km from the crater of Mount Mayon. The volcano often erupts forcing the airport to close due to the ash-rain. This airport is usually only open from sunrise to sunset due to limited night-landing equipment.
Legazpi Airport will be replaced by the new Bicol International Airport or also called Southern Luzon International Airport which is currently under construction, just a few kilometers from the old airport. The new airport is expected to open in early 2017.
Legazpi Airport airport connects the city of Legazpi to Manila (by Cebu Pacific Air and PAL Express) and Cebu City (CebGo). Please be advised there is a PHP 150 terminal fee.
Transport to and from Legazpi to the airport International
Legazpi Airport is very close to the city, just two kilometers from downtown Legazpi. There are several transport options for getting into the city. Outside the arrivals area are tricycles waiting who can take you to the city for around PHP 80. Taxis are available here as well (PHP 200).
